Granisetron is an anti-nauseant and an antiemetic agent with an Indazole derivative.
It belongs to Serotonin 5-HT3 receptor antagonists. It works fast within 30 minutes of intake of the medicine.
The medicine does not tolerate alcoholic conditions, it worsens constipation.
It is a white to off-white solid and soluble in water and normal saline at 20 degrees centigrade.
There are different forms of the tablet:
A film placed on the tongue, oral solution, tablet, and a dissolving pill.
It is clear orange colored and flavoured solution oral solution and the tablet is white triangular biconvex shaped film coated debossed as K1 on the front side.
Keep it away from light and store it in controlled room temperature.
Granisetron 1mg is used to avoid nausea and vomiting during the chemotherapy treatment.
The medicine treats by blocking the serotonin the chemical substance in the brain that causes nausea and vomiting during chemotherapy an anticancer treatment.
It also prevents vomiting and nausea caused after any surgical treatment, stomach upset, motion sickness.
Take the medicine in prescribed dosage and time. In case you vomit after taking the tablet take another tablet after one hour.
Tell your doctor or the pharmacist about your medical history of heart health like heart attacks, cardiac attacks, irregular heartbeat. family history of cardiac attacks and sudden death due to heart failure.
Inform your doctor, if you are allergic to the medicine or have specific allergies to any of the medications.
Do not administer the tablet without any medical assistance and do not stop using the tablet unless your doctor asks you to stop taking it or it might increase the cancer cells in the body and result in the failure of the treatment till then.
