Lenalidomide 15 mg is a thalidomide analogue. It is an immunomodulatory agent with the properties of antiangiogenic and antineoplastic.
It is an off-white to pale-yellow solid powder and soluble in organic solvents and low pH solutions.
It is an asymmetric carbon atom and might exist in S (-), R (+) optically active forms.
Lenalidomide inhibits the growth of multiple myeloma cells and MM. IS cells (human multiple myeloma cell line) from patients by inducing apoptosis and arrest of cell cycle.
It inhibits the expression of cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) in vitro.
The tablet increases the inflammation of anti-inflammatory cytokines and inhibits the pro-inflammatory cytokines secretion from peripheral blood mononuclear cells.
It enhances the immune system that indirectly fight with cancer cells and obstructs the growth of new blood vessels in cancer cells and chemical messengers.
Tell your doctor if you have medical history of heart, liver, kidney, diseases, thyroid issues, lactose disorders, or if you are already on any medication for other diseases as Lenalidomide may cause irreversible affects when taken in combination with other medicines.
